Desktop Manufacturing ...Universal Production Suite
 

Product designers and developers can now add manufacturing to their remit with the Desktop Manufacturing - Universal Production Suite.

Desktop Manufacturing converts standard CAD drawings into CNC machine code for remote site manufacturing through a normal business computer and standard broadband or ISDN telephone line. Desktop Manufacturing enables product designers and developers to interface directly with most CNC compliant machine tools in any machine shop anywhere in the world. The benefits of Desktop Manufacturing are low production costs, a high level of personal control throughout the manufacturing process and no capital outlay for machine tools. The Desktop Manufacturing - Universal Production Suite comprises of:

CAD Dimensions Lifter
The CAD dimensions lifter is used to extract the manufacturing dimensions from a CAD drawing. To use: drag and drop the highlighter over the dimension you want to lift. Select dimensions to be lifted in the order of the machining process. Repeat until all machining dimensions are lifted. A separate file should be created for each machining process required.

CAD Dimensions Converter
The CAD dimensions converter is used to convert the dimensions lifted from a CAD drawing into CNC machine code. To use: simply press the next button and follow the on-screen instructions. 

CNC Production Simulator

The CNC production simulator allows the operator to test, optimise and correct any code before committing the run to production. The CNC machine code and CAD drawing are loaded into the simulator. The CAD drawing provides a reference during the simulation process and supplies the dimensions for any corrections that may be required. When the simulation is complete and the pass light is illuminated the CNC machine code is ready for transfer to the CNC Machine Tool Controller.

CNC Machine Tool Controller

The CNC machine tool controller provides 2 to 8 axis manoeuvrability for CNC lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, grinding machines, boring machines, plasma cutters and most other CNC compliant machine tools. The unit operates from an ordinary desktop computer, and links to a CNC Universal Machine Tool Interface through a standard broadband or ISDN telephone connection.

CNC Universal Machine Tool Interface

The CNC Universal Machine Tool Interface offers a portable connection to most CNC machine tools through a special connector (supplied) which is fitted to the fixed machine tool controller. The rugged construction allows the unit to be safely transported to any machine anywhere in the world.

Installation lead-time: Standard Support - None.  Advanced support - up to 14 days for videophone link.  Premium Support - up to 60 days for on-site technician.

Licensing is controlled by USB dongles.

The Universal Production Suite is licensed per seat (i.e. computer, workstation). The Universal Production Suite will not operate without a licensed USB dongle being inserted into the operator’s computer. The hardware interface is licensed per machine tool type and model. This information is held on the USB dongle. The hardware interface will only accept code produced from a licensed seat and only for the licensed machine tool types and models. Licensing for additional seats and/or machine tool types and models can be purchased at any time.
